Chandubhai Virani was born in Dhun-Dhoraji village in Kalawad taluka of Jamnagar district of Gujarat, where his father was a farmer by Popatbhai profession. For some time, there was a drought in their area due to no rain. In such a situation, his father sold his farm and asked the 20,000 rupees he received from Chandubhai Virani and his 4 brothers to start some new business.

He and his 4 brothers did the same to their father's will and started trading manure and manure and farming accessories with those money but someone fraudulently sold fake goods, taking advantage of the inexperienced brothers' inexperience in business All those brothers' money was drowned in the business and the business was closed.

The story of Balaji Wafers Founder Chandubhai Virani's struggle with his brothers in Rajkot life:

After this, in 1964, a cinema hall called Estron started in Rajkot, in which the work of his and his brothers got work in the canteen. The owner of the cinema hall was very happy with all those brothers, because they used to do all the tasks in addition to cleaning the canteen, sitting at the ticket counter or guard etc. And finally in 1976, the owner of the cinema hall the brothers were allowed to run cinema canteens on contract.

In the canteen of the Estron Cinema, all the brothers used to sell chips, Namkeen and soft drinks etc. to the visitors who came to the cinema. Gradually, the work also started going well. Initially Chandubhai Virani worked as an assistant to his brothers and began to understand the nuances of the business. He understood that people used to buy the most wafers in the canteen. So, together with his brothers, he planned to buy open wafers and fill them in packets and sell them, which also turned out. After this, sandwiches were also included in the canteen menu, which further increased their profits. After this Chandubhai Virani decided to further expand this business.

The story related to the introduction of Balaji Wafer:

In the year 1982, Chandubhai Virani, after talking to his brothers, thought of making potato chips at home, for which he had full responsibility. He first arranged a kitchen and grill to make chips and started at home under the supervision of Chandubhai Virani to make potato chips which were loaded into mopeds in canteens and other shops by the name of Balaji Wafers.

The story of the entire journey of Chandubhai Virani and his brothers related to Balaji Wafers:

Chandubhai Virani and his brothers have faced many struggles and ups and downs to reach Balaji Wafers till today. Initially many people did not pay them, yet due to the hard work and taste of those people, people started liking Balaji Wafers and its demand started increasing. Now the demand increased, for supply first rickshaw and later had to take tempo. Not only this, due to increasing demand, production was also to be increased, for which a special machine was made to peel 10-20 kg of potatoes at a time and equal number of potato cutting machines.

Now Chandubhai Virani took a 1000 sqm plot in Rajkot with a loan and after raising the staff, after consulting with all the brothers for the purpose of taking this business to new heights, by putting 8 pan and adding staff. Chandubhai Virani did not stop at this and in 1992, he set up an automatic wafer-making plant to give customers better quality with better price and packaging, for 6 months after getting it, the Virani brothers faced many problems. | Then he faced another huge problem of competition in the market due to which his company was losing money.

For this, the Virani brothers decided to invest in a packaging machine and bought a local machine worth Rs 6 lakh which turned out to be absolutely useless and the next 2-3 years were spoiled in a legal battle with the supplier of this machine. Nevertheless, Chandubhai Virani kept pushing the company through all the difficulties with his understanding and then in the year 1999 the company had an automatic plant with a production capacity of 2000 kg per day and FMC Potato processing with a production capacity of 5000 kg per day in the year 2003. Machinery installed

After this, Balaji Wafers has also made a foray into the field of snacks, in which the taste and quality as well as the affordable prices, has remained intact till date. You can calculate the growth of Balaji Wafers from the same fact that in the year 2018, the growth rate of the company was 20-25 percent and the annual revenue was Rs 2200 crore. This was possible due to the visionary thinking of Chandubhai Virani and the hard work and dedication of all the brothers throughout the night.

After this Chandubhai started thinking about including Namkeen in his business. He started with Bhujia. Bhujia was a completely Indian product. Like chips, ready-made automatic plants could not be called from outside. Started with Tawa. But the idea of automatic plant began to be considered. An Australian company was given this task and the engineer took it as a challenge and built an automatic machine making Bhujia.

After stepping in the field of Namkeen, Bhujia started selling all varieties of snacks including sev, gram dal, peas as well as horn Bhujia. The taste and quality as well as the affordable price kept the existence of Balaji wafers in a fierce competition. Today there are 6 manufacturing plants of Balaji wafers, which have the capacity to make 7.5 lakh kg potato chips and 10 lakh kg snacks per day. They have a huge network of 20,000 dealers.
