Dalai Lama's birth, family and education



The Dalai Lama was born on 6 July 1935 in a small family village in Taktseer, Tibet. His father's name was Chokyong Tsering and mother's name was Dicky Tsering. He was called Lhamo Dhondup in his childhood.

Tenzin Gyasto started his early education at the age of 6. He also studied music, astrology, and music, including Sanskrit, medicine, Buddhist philosophy, and logic and the arts and culture of Tibet.

At the age of 24, the Dalai Lama had acquired the degree of Geshe Laharampa. This degree is considered similar to the doctorate of Buddhist philosophy.

Since the 1950s, there were differences between China and Tibet, due to which China used to carry out many attacks on Tibet and the persecution of the people of Tibet by China increased greatly.

Due to which the Dalai Lama had to face rebellion of Chinese soldiers and not only that, he was forced to leave Tibet. On 17 March 1959, he left Tibet and took refuge in India and since then has been living in Hospice in Himachal Pradesh, North India .

It is also called "Chhota Lhasa". Let me tell you that during the exile of the Dalai Lama, about 80 thousand Tibetan refugees came with him to India.

At the same time, even after such cruel and cruel behavior of China, the Dalai Lama has compassion for China and this is also the identity of his great personality.

The Dalai Lama has also raised the issues of China and Tibet in the General Assembly of the United Nations, but even today there is no solution to this issue.

With this, the Dalai Lama also demanded to make Tibet a democratic country.

Important efforts made by the Dalai Lama for peace in the world:

The Dalai Lama is promoting peace and love all over the world. He has traveled to more than 62 countries for this and has met the prime minister, President and state rulers of many big and powerful countries to improve the standard of living of the people.

With this, the spiritual guru Dalai Lama made the following proposals to the United Nations to maintain the literature, culture, art of his country and maintain peace in Tibet.

The Dalai Lama, in his resolution, demanded that the whole of Tibet be made a place of peace. The Dalai Lama also proposed human rights to Tibetans and giving them democratic freedom.

The Dalai Lama sought to preserve and repair Tibet's natural environment. Along with this, he also demanded the government to ban the manufacture of nuclear weapons by China.

The Dalai Lama also demanded a serious dialogue on the issue of mutual relations between Tibetans and Chinese.

The Dalai Lama, while talking about China's population transfer policy, said that it could prove fatal to the existence of Tibetans, so it should be abandoned altogether.

Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for his non-violent struggle in making Tibet independent. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a peace loving person He has consistently supported non-violent policies even in highly aggressive situations. He is the first Nobel laureate to express his concern for global environmental problems.

He has met the presidents, prime ministers and state rulers of big countries.

He has also interacted with heads of various religions and eminent scientists. His Holiness has traveled to more than 42 countries on 6 continents. 

His Holiness has written more than 42 books.  In view of his message of peace, non-violence, inter-religious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion, since 1959 His Holiness has received more than 6 honors, honorable doctorates, awards etc. 

His Holiness addresses himself as an ordinary Buddhist monk.

Dalai Lama’s Politics retirement

On 14 March 2010, His Holiness wrote a letter to the Parliament of the Tibetan People's Representative Assembly (Tibetan Parliament in Exile) requesting the Tibetans to free them from their immediate authority as per the charter of deportation, since technically they were still heads of state . He declared that he was ending the traditions according to which the Dalai Lama exercised spiritual and political authority in Tibet. He clarified that his aim was to reestablish the situation of the first four Dalai Lama by having only spiritual matters. He confirmed that the democratically elected leadership would assume full formal responsibility for Tibetan political affairs. From now on, Gaden Fodung, the Dalai Lama's official office and residence, will complete that task.

In 1959, the Dalai Lama was awarded the Raman Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership.

In 1989, Dharma Guru Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

In the year 1994, spiritual Dalai Lama was awarded the World Security Annual Peace Prize.

In 2003, the Dalai Lama was awarded the International League for Human Rights Award.

In 2009, the Dalai Lama, who promoted peace in the world, was awarded the Lantos Human Rights Award.
